A Son’s Mothers Day Tribute
She said yes to allow me to experience new life in her sacred womb
My home for the first few months was a warm and safe cozy home
I could hear her sweetly sing and rub my back before taking my first breath
As the time drew near she struggled in such anguish in a battle for life and death
She enthusiastically greeted me with tears of joy, snuggled in a warm blanket and a kiss
Her love for me flowed from her nurturing breast; so bountifully I insist
As she clutched me close in my first first few days; I could hear her quietly sniffle and sigh
Pondering my life’s bruises, scrapes, heartaches and shattered dreams would make her cry
It was always her healing and comforting hand reached forth when I fell on my bike
Cheering me on from the bleachers singing with all her heart our high school song to fight
Her tears again streaming from a heart overflowing as I walked that graduation aisle
As I watch my bride approached the altar; I see my first love mom radiating with her endless smile
It is now my turn to bring new life in this world don’t you see
Her face glowed with heavenly endowment as she gazed on the little one looking like me
I watch in amazement as she renews her vows to this child of mine to nurture, protect and hold
Only in a mother’s gracious and warm heart can one find this unconditional love so bold
So on this day we set aside to honor our mom; I am the one now gazing at this earthly saint
Love is not an adequate term to express; maybe my endless tears speak with no restraint
Happy Mother’s Day Mom!!! My warm heart, loving hand and grace come only from thee.
Until we meet one day in heaven; I will only then witness the crown earned for all to see.
